Unit rate Lesson

Learning Target: Students will apply unit rate in a real-world situation

Task: Students will find and compare the unit rate prices between three different stores.

Lesson Setting: Students take the role of a shopper, determining which price is the cheapest.

Materials: Laptop, and worksheet to display work and turn in.

Time: early finshers were done in 30 minutes, others were done in 45 minuets.

Setup: Students operated in a teacher-hosted world. Interacting with NPCs simulating going through a grocery store.

What worked well:

  1. Using Canva to create advertisements for each of the items for sale.
  2. Houseing each image in my OneDrive with a link to the NPC.
  3. Using www.Minecraftplanet.org to find the grocery stores to place in the world
  4. Follow a YouTube video to create the inside of each grocery store.

What could have gone better

  1. Make sure each link to each advertisement is set correctly. Each advertisement was created in Canve then  uploaded to one drive. Sometimes the picture would come up as blocked to some students but accessible to others. Each of the 21 links had to be set individually to “People in my county school district”, and the default setting was for “people with existing access.” This created room for error if not diligent when setting each link.
