Hi, I’m Mr. Proctor!

I’m a teacher with over 20 years in education and social work. I’ve also gone through three recessions and multiple job titles before finally arriving in my current field: teaching middle school math.

I believe my most impactful position was one of my internships in college; I was a career specialist for the Upward Bound program at Seminal State College.

It was a summer job and my first position with a desk.

My task was to find job shadowing opportunities for the high school students attending our summer program. I listened to their interests and what fields would interest them, then called businesses in the area to find someone interested in taking on a high school student for a few days each week.

The response from the community was positive. I found great placements in a wide range of fields. I made visits to each job site and spoke with the students. They were all so inspired and loved seeing how professionals work.

Specifically, I recall one student whom I placed at a radio station. They got to interview a bull rider at a rodeo (a field trip I didn’t know had happened). They spoke of the experience with such fervor and interest I knew it would have a lasting impression.

These real-world scenarios where students interacted with professionals demonstrated an optimum learning potential; students asked questions and absorbed as much information as possible. Seeing this left a lasting impression on me to recreate an environment where students can interact with content to maximize learning.

My desire is to work and collaborate with teachers who want to apply real-world situations to their lessons by integrating Virtual Reality in their classrooms.

Utilizing my website will enable any educator to create a virtual environment within Minecraft to apply content to a real-world situation, maximizing the classroom learning experience. Educators will also find strategies and tools to exercise creative building sessions that are content centered.
