Inequalities
7th grade
Learning Target: Students will be able to identify, read and write inequalities
Task: Students will visit three different virtual environments: A Car Dealership, State, Fair, and Sports arena
Lesson Setting:
- Car dealership: students will see how inequalities apply to car payments and income and identify which vehicle option works according to the needs outlined by inequalities
- State Fair: students will apply inequalities according to State Fair Setup, distance, height
- Sports Arean: Students will apply inequalities to points scored in a game, statistics, and concessions stands.
Materials: Students are given a worksheet, one-page front and back, with questions to answer and instructions to follow.
Time: Students were given 40 Minutes to complete the assignment. Those that were focused finished in about 30 minutes.
Setup: Students worked individually or groups of two if they did not have a laptop
What worked:
- Having about 4 questions per section
- Have three distinctly labeled areas for students to attend
What could have gone better
- Some of the questions should have been edited to be clearer. After the first class, changes were made, and the questions made better sense.
See the images below for an example from each section.
