Lesson World Layout
Example #1
Office Building Template
The Office Buiding Template was used during the Central tendencies lesson had four different sections. Here each section represented the Mean, Median, Mode, and Range. The inspiration came from a website giving real-life applications of the central tendencies. This web site gives several examples in the field of advertising and Human resources in reference to salaries.
Example#2
Space Station Template
This is the Space station Template. It was used for the lesson covering operations with exponents. I researched Spacex’s website and various other websites to apply exponents to real-world situations that were accurate for finance, life since, physical science, and other applications. Each section was clearly marked with a number on the floor and an NPC at the entrance of each section/room.
,Example #3
Absolute Value and Integers lesson
The inspiration behind the absolute value lesson came from a worksheet I found on teachers pay teachers. This lesson differs from the template lessons because this world was designed specifically for this standard, and may be difficult to apply to another lesson.
Section 1
Students are utilizing their knowledge of adding and subtracting integers and absolute values to help with a rescue effort to save a group of scientists trapped in the underwater observatory.
Section 2
In a very short section, the students talk to the stranded car owner on the side of the road to determine if they have enough gas to reach their destination.
Section 3
involves adding and subtracting integers in terms of money. The scenario is that students have to speak to the NPCs or patron of this gas station and determine if they have enough money for their purchases.
Example #4
Inequalities
In this lesson I labeled each section A, B, and C. I set the large letters identifying each section so all students could divided up, and identify each section with ease. This also enabled an easier labeling process for problems numbering them 1 to 12 on the worksheet.
Section A
Students answered inequality problems in the scenario of a car dealership. Links where placed in some of the NPC’s to Kelly blue book to compare cost or fuel efficiency.
Section B
Students answered inequality problems in the scenario of state fair.
Section 3
Students answered inequality problems in the scenario sports arena
